The EEA and Yrj\u00f6 Jahnsson Foundation are delighted to announce that\u00a0Julia Cag\u00e9<\/a><\/strong>, Professor of Economics at Sciences Po Paris, and David Yanagizawa-Drott<\/strong><\/a>, Professor of Economics at University of Zurich, have been jointly given the 2025 Yrj\u00f6 Jahnsson Award.<\/em><\/p>\n

Julia Cag\u00e9 and David Yanagizawa-Drott have made important contributions with their work on political economy and the media, based on deep historical research in France, the USA, and Africa. A key and timely lesson of their work is the critical role of media and social media in motivating political beliefs and actions, as well as the dangers posed by controlled media. Their findings underscore the importance of media independence for a healthy democracy.<\/p>\n

The EEA and Yrj\u00f6 Jahnsson Foundation warmly congratulate Julia and David and look forward to presenting them with the Award during EEA 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n
