Welcome!

Julia Cagé and David Yanagizawa-Drott have made important contributions with their work on political economy and the media, based on deep historical research in France, the USA, and African countries. A key and timely lesson of their work is the critical role of media and social media in motivating political beliefs and actions, as well as the dangers posed by controlled media. Their findings underscore the importance of media independence for a healthy democracy.
Yrjö Jahnsson Award in Economics
In 1993, the Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation established a biennial award to recognize a European economist aged 45 or younger who has made a significant contribution to theoretical and applied economic research in Europe. The European Economic Association (EEA) cooperates with the Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation in selecting the award winners.
